Ladram Bay

Who needs foreign when the sun shines on the UK. Ladram Bay on a hot August day with calm sea says it all

RETRIBUTION

RETRIBUTION

A POEM BY HARRY HUNT DEDICATED TO OUR FALLEN. MAY THEY NOW REST IN PEACE.

© Harry Hunt 2016

For four decades
‘This sceptered Isle,
This precious stone
Set in a silver sea’
(To quote The Bard.)
Became a waning star.
Subverted bit by bit in a stealthy way
By those who could not see,
 Or comprehend
That which made us who we are,
Our history.
An island nation, waiting for our day,
Of glory in the sun which never set
On empire benevolent in the main,
Evolved across two thousand years
From pre Romano
To the here and now.
Our heritage, our national pride,
Our fishing grounds,
Our laws
Our freedom, our democracy,
Our national identity
And a thousand other things for which
Our myriad fallen comrades died.
In war or peace they fell unknown,
Lives unlived, cut short, alone.
Betrayal screamed from Victory’s decks
My inner fury
Raged unchecked
Until today, the day of reckoning arrived
I put my cross into the box
My sword into the side
Of what we call ESTABLISHMENT
Oh how with joy I cried.
 When counting ended
And twas plain
The EU beast was slain
And we the people could reclaim
That most precious restoration of them all.
 FREEDOM as I recall!

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY

Question.
What sort of government cuts hospitals, A&Es, and vital welfare services while allowing mass immigration to increase pressure on all.
Answer.
A totally incompetent, corrupt, out of touch, uncaring, 'look after the rich' Europhile one who think it's more important to waste our money (billions) on the failing European 'empire in the making' and foreign bribes.
Can you also imagine the day we'll soon have an EU army that can be used to control this offshore regional colony that used to be the UK nation. None of us will be safe in our own homes and if for any reason they want you out they'll just do it. It's what non-democratic, despotic bureaucratic regimes do to ordinary people in places like N. Korea, etc. Only the ruling elite matter.

Add to that we'll have to join the Euro and be part of the Schengen zone and we have the perfect recipe for self destruction, which will ensure collapse of our NHS and all our vital public services, infrastructure and energy provision.
Make this the year the ‘people’ triumphed over establishment arrogance, which assumes it’s always safe in the knowledge that ‘not fit for purpose’ First Past The Post will always assure their place on the green benches and corridors of power whoever ‘wins’ to form a minority government the majority don’t want.
It doesn't have to be this way if we vote BREXIT in June and UKIP in May.

Thanks for reading this and if you agree I hope you share my post with any other patriotic NHS supporting friends

Trelawney sung at Helston

Trelawny

With a good sword and a trusty shield
A faithful heart and true
King James's men shall understand
What Cornish men can do
And have they fixed the where and when?
And shall Trelawny die?
Here's twenty thousand Cornish men
Will know the reason why.
Chorus
And shall Trelawny live?
Or shall Trelawny die?
Here's twenty thousand Cornish men
Will know the reason why.
Out spake the captain brave and bold
A merry wight was he
Though London Tower were Michael's hold
We'll set Trelawny free
We'll cross the Tamar, land to land
The Severn is no stay
Then one and all and hand in hand
And who shall bid us nay.
And when we came to London wall
A pleasant sight to view
Come forth, come forth, ye cowards all
Here are better men than you
Trelawny, he's in keep in hold
Trelawny he may die
But twenty thousand Cornish men
Will know the reason why.

CONVOY

The dead are on the move in this grim month of February. The hearses and their convoys  are passing through the village it seems in ever increasing numbers as The Grim Reaper gathers in the harvest.
Somewhere on the list is my name and it moves up towards the top irrevocably and without mercy.
I'm not as healthy as I was and some days are a real challenge, but dammit I've had a life at least, a life of many facets.
Ups and downs, failures and successes and always, always lucky not only in love but in terms of fate and circumstance. Timing it seems is everything.
I,ve been a survivor in the true meaning of the word, not only surviving the dangers of city life in a dangerous occupation but also in overcoming my own mental demons in the search for who and why I am.
Now retired, I have found peace, security and I hope a little wisdom in the rural idyll of Somerset.
A home,garden, family, music, art.
I could not ask for more.
I am extremely grateful to Lady Luck.
But herein lies the tragedy and sadness -
the millions who've been less fortunate - never had a life or one severely traumatized by loss or illness, war or crime, circumstances beyond their control. People, children  who have nothing, except the clothes on their back.
I ask what make me so special that I deserve such fortune.
In truth I don't, and in no way am I special.
Millions died in world wars, mostly in the flower of their youth. I just missed that but because of them I'm a free man.
I shall remember them and all the others and weep for them, but I will never understand why it had to be this way.
